Brief History:

is the official mosque of Pudukkottai state, situated near the shores of the Thirumayam Fort. Built by Nawab Muhamed Ali Khan in 1779, this impressive structure reflects the Mughal architecture of the period. The building is very old, but has managed to retain its beauty over the years. The most striking feature of the mosque is its huge dome, which dominates the main prayer hall. In addition, four minarets, three mihrabs or entrances, a balcony and a few arches enhance the beauty of the royal mosque. The Shahi Masjid in Pudukkottai is an important historical monument in India. This mosque was built in the 17th century by the Marathas and features distinctive Islamic architecture. The mosque is a striking example of Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, which is a unique blend of Islamic, Hindu, and Gothic styles. The main entrance to the mosque is flanked by two minarets. Above the entrance is a large dome with impressive domed arches. Inside, the mosque has five prayer chambers, all with beautifully decorated domed roofs. The mosque also features intricate stone carvings and calligraphic inscriptions. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
