Rajendracholisvara Temple, located in the town of Ponamaravati in the Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh, India, is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva. The temple was built in the 12th century during the reign of the Chola dynasty. It is one of the largest and most important Shaiva temples in the region. The temple has several structures, including a mandapa and vimana. It is a rich source of Hindu art and architecture, with sculptures depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. History:
The Rajendracholisvara Temple has several unique features that make it one of the most prominent temples in the region. The temple features a triple-tiered vimana (sanctum sanctorum), with a shikhara (spire) that is almost 35 meters tall. The walls of the temple are decorated with exquisite sculptures depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, such as the Churning of the Ocean and the wedding of Shiva and Parvati. The temple has four main entrance gates, each of which is intricately carved with designs and images of gods, goddesses, and other auspicious symbols.
