Brief History:
Badi Masjid, also known as Jama Masjid is one of the oldest mosques in India located in the city of Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The mosque was built in 1612 by Malik Ambar, the famous Prime Minister of the Nizam Shahi dynasty. Badi Masjid was once a place of worship with thousands of devotees but it has since been converted to a tourist attraction. The mosque reflects the eclectic mix of Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture. The intricate carvings and patterns on the exterior walls of the mosque are fascinating. The interior of the mosque is equally beautiful, with its large central chamber, five aisles, and five domes. The majestic structure of the mosque has made it a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims alike. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
Badi Masjid in Aurangabad is a large mosque that was constructed in 1695 by Malik Ambar, a Nizam of the Ahmednagar Sultanate. It is a massive structure, with two wide entrances on the north and south sides, and many smaller entrances on the eastern and western walls. The mosque is surrounded by a courtyard and a large water-tank. The walls of the mosque are adorned with blue and white stucco designs, with a large dome on the northern side, and two smaller domes on the southern and eastern sides. The interior of the mosque is filled with arches and columns which help to support the roof and the many domes, and is decorated with Quranic inscriptions and calligraphic designs. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
