Brief History:
Baba Reshi Shrine, located in the picturesque Gulmarg valley of Kashmir, is a revered shrine of the Sufi saint Baba Payam-ud-din Reshi (also known as Baba Reshi). He was a 14th century Sufi saint from Iran who devoted his entire life in propagating the message of Islam in Kashmir. Baba Reshi was greatly respected throughout the region for his spiritual wisdom, kindness, and benevolence. It is believed that Baba Reshi came to Kashmir in order to spread the teachings of Islam, and he remained here till the end of his life. Today, the shrine is visited by pilgrims and devotees from all over India. The shrine is known for its serene atmosphere and tranquillity. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Baba Reshi Shrine is located in the village of Gulmarg, India. The shrine was constructed in the 15th century in Mughal architecture style and comprises four towers that form an arc around the shrine. The shrine has a four-tiered minaret and two semicircular domes. The main chamber of the shrine is adorned with intricate frescos and decorative patterns. The shrine is built with shesham wood and is believed to have been constructed on the grave of the revered Sheikh Abul Barkat. The main gate of the structure has an interesting design, which consists of two pillars that support a bracket showing a picture of a lion and a deer standing above a man. The shrine is open to all visitors, Hindus, Muslims and Christians, and is a popular pilgrimage spot for Kashmiri Muslims. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
