It is thought to have originated in the local area where it stands, and it is believed to have been built in the 13th century. The church was renovated in the mid-19th century and again in the early 20th century.
The church features a simple white wooden structure, with a rectangular design, and a small tower with a single bell. The exterior of the building is covered in grey-colored plaster, with a red and white striped roof. It is believed to be the oldest surviving wooden church in Estonia.
