Kambja Church In Estonia: History,Facts, & Services
Kambja Church in Estonia is a Lutheran church located in the village of Kambja in the Tartu county of southern Estonia. The first recorded church was a stone church which was built here in the early 13th century. The church today is a wooden building dating from 1880, which replaced an older structure. It was the last church of its kind built in Estonia before the Communist government began to shut down churches and replace them with community centers. The church is still active today and holds regular services. The church also hosts cultural events such as music concerts and exhibitions. The interior and exterior of the church are decorated with traditional carvings that tell stories from the Bible.
