Sangchen Choekhor Rabtentse Dharma Shedrupling Monastery in Paro, Bhutan follows the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is home to more than 50 resident monks, and they follow the Buddhist teachings and practices of the Nyingma School with regular daily rituals of chanting, meditation and prayer. The main practice for the monks at Sangchen Choekhor is Guru Yoga, which involves prostrating to the Buddhas and bodhisattvas, and visualizing and merging with their enlightened minds. During daily ceremonies, the monks will recite mantras and texts specific to their tradition, and conduct rituals involving offerings to the lamas, ritual objects, and practice guru yoga to invoke blessings from their teachers. Sangchen Choekhor is also involved in additional activities such as teaching Buddhist philosophy, performing prayers for the long life of their lama, and engaging in debate with Tibetans who visit the monastery.
