Brief History:
:Mehendiganj Jame Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in the Barisal district of Bangladesh. It is located in the village of Mehendiganj, near the Ganges river. The mosque was built in the 15th century by Sultan Hussain Shah, or Sultan Shah, who was a king of Bengal ruled from 1493 until 1519. The mosque has a unique design with two domes and four minarets. Mehendiganj Jame Mosque is a popular tourist destination and is visited by people from all over the country and abroad. It has a large open courtyard that visitors can sit in and admire the mosque from all directions. The interior of the mosque is decorated with carved floral motifs and intricate stonework, making it a truly exceptional sight. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bangladesh which you must visit.
Architecture:
This mosque is located in Barisal, Bangladesh. It was constructed in 1501 AD during the reign of Sultan Husain Shaheed in the Indo-Saracenic style. The rectangular mosque is single storied and has a prayer hall with three arches on each side. The main entrance is in the eastern side and the mihrab is in the western wall. The mosque is completely covered with brick base and terra cotta decorations. It consists of four corner towers with small cupolas, and a larger central cupola. The walls are covered with terracotta floral designs. There is a octagonal minaret at the southeast corner of the mosque. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
