The exact date and architect of the mosque are unknown but the mosque has been damaged many times due to natural disasters and flooding. The Ashkona Jame Mosque is a large, white and green masonry building, located near Ashkona in Bangladesh. Its architecture is a mix of Islamic, Hindu, and British Raj-era influences. The mosque was designed in the Mughal-style with a large, square-shaped prayer hall surrounded by domes and crescents. The building is further decorated with vertical towers at the entrance and intricate turrets on the roof. The interior of the mosque is adorned with marble sculpture, intricate floral designs, and ornamental gold and blue detailing. The interior of the building is lined with 17th-century Persian-style calligraphy and arabesque paintings. The prayer hall also includes a magnificent mihrab, or prayer niche, decorated with the intricate “Arzanu” style of floral and geometric patterns. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
