The mosque of Um Al Hassam is an 18th-century Ottoman-style mosque found in the historic town of Muharraq, Bahrain. The mosque was constructed in the late 18th century and was built in the Ottoman style, characterized by its large central dome and four smaller side domes. The mosque measures 88 feet long by 64 feet wide and features a large central dome, four domes along the sides, two minarets, and an open courtyard. The mosque is made up of plain white coral stone with simple ogee arches. The mosque’s most distinctive feature is its large central dome, which is 16 feet in diameter and is said to be the biggest domed mosque in all of Bahrain. The structure of the mosque is supported by 12 circular columns with glossy headings, and its walls are adorned with exquisite Islamic patterned tiles and Kufic script. There is a small maqsurah, or prayer niche, near the mihrab in the mosque that leads to the Imam's room. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The visiting hours of Um Al Hassam Mosque in Bahrain are from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm from Monday to Sunday. Males and females are issued separate time slots and are not allowed to be admitted in the same time.
