The Jasra Grand Mosque is located in the village of Jasra in the Northern Governorate of Bahrain. The village of Jasra is thought to be the birthplace of the country’s first ruler, Shaikh Abdullah Al-Khalifa. The mosque was built in 1915 and is believed to have been built on the original site of the Al-Khalifa residence. The mosque is in a typical Bahraini style and includes a main prayer hall, a large open courtyard and a women’s gallery. There is also a traditional Bahraini toilet built in to the rear of the mosque. The mosque is open to all and is a popular tourist attraction. The Jasra Mosque in Bahrain was built in 1729 and is considered a prime example of traditional Bahraini mosque architecture. The mosque is characterized by its tall spire, or 'minaret', which is constructed of coral stones and topped with decorative features. The exterior walls are constructed of stones sourced from the nearby sea, including coral, applied with decorative moldings. The entrance to the mosque is framed by a traditional large wooden door. Inside, the mosque features traditional features such as a mihrab (a niche in the wall that indicates the direction of Mecca) as well as intricate detailing on columns and arches. The mosque also features a courtyard and a water fountain in the center. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
