The Gazakh Mosque in Azerbaijan was built in 1608 by architect-builder Zufar and is one of the oldest mosques in Azerbaijan. It is believed that the site of the mosque was once occupied by a Zoroastrian temple or fire temple and it was built over that pre-existing place of worship. The mosque has a total area of approximately sixteen hundred and twenty square meters and the walls are made up of rough limestone.
