History:

Styrian Armoury, Graz was founded in 1744 by Archduke Francis Stephen of Lorraine, who at the time the Holy Roman Emperor and ruler of the Duchy of Styria. Recognizing an opportunity to revive the local arms and armour industry, he ordered that a large armoury be built on the banks of the River Mur in Graz to manufacture and repair arms and armour for the Styrian militia. Over the following centuries, the Armoury developed into a major arms manufacturer, establishing a global reputation for quality and craftsmanship, and supplying arms to Austria, Prussia, Sweden and other European countries and even some overseas territories. The Armoury remained under the ownership and control of the Duchy of Styria for over 200 years, until it was annexed to the Empire of Austria-Hungary in the late 19th century. During the First World War, the Armoury was taken over by the Austro-Hungarian military for the production of munitions. However, after the war it returned to private ownership and was expanded, with the addition of a new gun manufacturing plant in 1928. This plant, which is still in operation today, produces both traditional firearms and modern firearms. In the Second World War, the Armoury was once again taken over by the German army. After the war, the plant was restored to its owners and production quickly resumed. Today, Styrian Armoury, Graz continues to produce quality arms and armour. The Armoury now offers a modern product range, including modern firearms, hunting rifles, sporting guns, shotguns, and other arms and weapons. The Armoury also produces high-quality antiques, reproductions of historic arms, as well as modern decorative arms and armour. Styrian Armoury, Graz has a long and proud history, and is still a leader in the production of quality firearms and armour. Its products are highly sought-after, both at home and abroad, and have achieved a global reputation for excellence.
