It stands at 76 metres (249 ft) tall and has a base of 109 metres (358 ft). It is believed to have been constructed by Khufu's son Djedefre, and later modified by his son Khufukhaf I. The Pyramid of Khufukhaf I is a pyramid located in the Giza Necropolis in Egypt. It is the tomb of the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Khufukhaf I, who ruled during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom (about 2613 - 2498 BC). Khufukhaf I was the grandson of the famous Pharaoh Khufu, who is most well known for constructing the Great Pyramid of Giza. Khufukhaf I's pyramid is the sixth largest at Giza and is located just a few hundred meters south of the Great Pyramid. The Pyramid of Khufukhaf I originally stood at 97.5 meters tall and was constructed out of limestone and granodiorite. It initially had five steps and a grand entranceway in the east. The entranceway was guarded two large statues of Khufukhaf I. Inside the Pyramid of Khufukhaf I was once a complex system of hallways and chambers. The burial chamber was located in the center of the pyramid and was intricately decorated with limestone and granite. The burial chamber held a pink granite sarcophagus that contained the mummy of Khufukhaf I. It is believed that the pyramid was never completed, as the north face of the pyramid had never been constructed. Today, the Pyramid of Khufukhaf I is in a state of disrepair, as it has been looted by grave robbers throughout the centuries, and many of the stones that once composed it have been taken away and used in other construction projects. The pyramid was also likely robbed in antiquity, with robbers taking away any valuable artifacts. 10. It is thought that the pyramid of Khufukhaf likely collapsed due to poor drainage, which influenced the drying and water absorption of the structure.
