The Hampton Court Palace is a royal residence located in East Molesey, England, United Kingdom. It was originally built by Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, a favorite of King Henry VIII, in 1528. The palace was designed in the Tudor style of architecture, and it is one of the grandest surviving examples of this style. In 1537, King Henry VIII took the palace from the Cardinal Wolsey, after which he significantly increased its size. The facades, kitchens, and great wardrobes were all extended, while other buildings were erected, including two tennis courts, a tiltyard, and a large tiltyard pavilion. After Henry’s death in 1547, the palace was inherited by his son, King Edward VI, who appointed William Cecil as his Lord High Treasurer and made him the manager of the estate.
