History:
Sivas Castle, located in Sivas, Turkey, is believed to have been built in the 3rd century AD. It was originally a Roman castle, converted to a Seljuk military structure in the 12th century. In the 13th century, Sivas Castle was the site of the first successful recorded Turkish siege of the city. The siege is said to have lasted 42 days and was the first recorded instance of the use of Turkish forces to take a Christian city.
