History:

Beyazıt Tower, also known as the Victory Tower, is a 95-meter-tall tower located in Istanbul, Turkey. It was built by the Ottoman Sultan Beyazid II between 1505 and 1506, on top of one of the seven hills of the historical peninsula, known as the First Hill of Istanbul. The tower originally had a single minaret which was later modified and enlarged putting the height of the tower at 95 meters. It is a very popular tourist spot, and the surrounding area is known as the Beyazit Square. The tower was restored during Sultan Abdulaziz's reign between 1861 to 1867, and the clock mechanism was installed in 1882.
