Brief History:

Atik Valide Mosque is a historical mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. It is believed to have been built around 1560 by Mimar Sinan by the order of Sultan Suleiman I’s wife, Valide Sultan Safiye, and is located in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul. The mosque is an important piece of Ottoman history and is renowned for its unique and beautiful architecture. It is one of the largest Ottoman mosques in Istanbul, and is open to visitors. Architecture:

The Atik Valide Mosque in Istanbul was built by Mimar Sinan in 1583 as part of the Valide Mosque Complex. The complex consists of nine buildings in total, including the Atik Valide Mosque itself. The mosque features a basilica plan and is built in a classical Ottoman style with a 25 meter dome that rests on a square prayer hall surrounded by four half-domes. The mosque has many distinguishing features, such as intricate geometric designs and elaborate floral patterns, The interior of the mosque is decorated with the finest examples of Iznik tiles, one of the main architectural features of the Ottoman Empire. This mosque also has a marble fountain, a Mimber, a wooden Tağser, and a Mihrab which are all decorated in exquisite tile work. The Atik Valide Mosque has a long history and is an important symbol of Islamic art and culture in the region. Over the centuries, the mosque has served as a place of worship as well as a refuge from political unrest, natural disasters, and disease. Today, the Atik Valide Mosque still stands tall and draws visitors from around the world. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

Atik Valide Mosque is open daily from 8:30am to 6:30pm Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, the prayer hall is closed, however visitors are welcome from 10am to 4pm. best mosque in the world.

Atik Valide Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey is located in the district of Kasımpaşa, in the Kadırga area of Istanbul, on the Golden Horn coast. This mosque is right across the street from the Yeni Valide Mosque. The Atik Valide Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Istanbul, having been built in 1663 by Turhan Hatice, the mother of Sultan Mehmet IV. Practical Information: The Atik Valide Mosque is open to visitors daily from 8am to 6:30pm. It is located at Abide-i Hürriyet Cad., Kadırga, Kasımpaşa, 34406 Istanbul, Turkey. There is no admission fee. Getting There: The easiest way to get to Atik Valide Mosque is to take the M2 Metro to Murat Reis Station and then walk for about 15 minutes. Other options include taking the tram or taxi. There are also ferry services available which go to Kadırga or Unkapanı Ferry Port. beautiful masjid.
