History:

is a temple located in Tha Li District, Loei Province. It is believed to have been built in the late Ayutthaya period sometime between the 17th to 19th century. At the current site, there is a square-shaped chedi with a base of 12 meters wide and about 20 meters tall. The chedi itself is painted in gold and the bottom part of the chedi dome is decorated with Naga figures. It is believed that these figures are there to ward off evil. The temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha and this is the only temple in the area to do so. Inside the chedi is the sacred Buddha relic which is believed to be a piece of bone from the Buddha himself. Phra That Satcha (Tha Li) is an important site for pilgrimage and worship in Thailand, which is situated in the Chiang Rai province in the northern part of the country. Phra That Satcha (Tha Li) can be reached by car, bus, or train. From Bangkok, the journey takes approximately 3 hours by car, 5 hours by bus, or 4 ½ hours by train. From Chiang Mai, the journey takes 3 ½ hours by car, 7 hours by bus, or 8 hours by train. If traveling by car, the route follows the Highway No.101. After passing through Lopburi and Phitsanulok, look for the exit to Phra That Satcha (Tha Li). From there, take the local road to the temple.
