City Church In Switzerland is a progressive Christian congregation which was founded in Basel in 1986. It was started by British and Swiss members of the Churches of Christ who sought to bring a radical and open expression of Christianity to Switzerland. Since then, City Church has gone through several stages of development and now exists as a welcoming, international, non-denominational church with regular Sunday worship services. City Church's mission is to create a vibrant and loving Christian community that is open to all, especially those from varied and non-traditional backgrounds. City Church In Switzerland History The roots of City Church in Switzerland go back to the early 1980s when small British and Swiss Churches of Christ communities in Basel and Zurich began worshipping separately but in close cooperation. In 1986, the two groups formally agreed to unite to become the City Church in Switzerland. Following a period of preparation, the community began to meet regularly for worship, Bible study and fellowship.
