Brief History:

Masjid al-Hamra (Jeddah) is an Islamic mosque located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is one of the oldest mosques in the city and has been in existence for at least 500 years. Masjid al-Hamra was the place where the first qibla direction was established during the time of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). It is well-known due to its beautiful architecture and traditional Islamic design. There are two minarets at the mosque as well as two domed structures which contain the mihrabs (prayer niches). Over the centuries, this mosque has gone through several renovations and expansions. The most recent changes have included the addition of an extra sahn (courtyard) and a 3D digital projector. It is one of the most famous mosque in Saudi-Arabia which you must visit.

Architecture:

Masjid al-Hamra (Kareem Mosque) is located in Jeddah, Saudi-Arabia. It is a part of a larger site that is considered to be one of the oldest mosques in the city, dating back to the early 1800s. The mosque was designed by the renowned Turkish architect Sinan. The mosque is a combination of traditional Islamic and Turkish elements, including an octagonal courtyard and ablaq masonry, as well as arched doorways and windows. The exterior of the mosque is made of red brick, while its main iwan has a wooden roof. Inside the mosque one can find five main columns, a wooden minbar (pulpit) and a mihrab (prayer niche). The walls are adorned with intricate tile-work, as well as colorful geometric designs and motifs. The mosque has been expanded to hold up to 1,500 worshippers. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
