History:
The Mexican National Pantheon was originally built in 1874 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Mexico’s independence from Spain. The building is dedicated to the heroes of the War of Independence, and those who fought for Mexican independence from Spain. The building underwent some renovations in the early 20th century, and the pantheon was officially inaugurated in 1915. It was designated a national monument in 1935. The Pantheon was designed by Ignacio Castera and Manuel Tolsá. The building features a central domed area with four exterior galleries. The Pantheon is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday. Guided tours are available to visitors during the week, and visitors can access the museum and library for further information about the pantheon and its history.
