History:
Igreja de Rendufe was originally constructed by João Pontes de Azurara, the eldest son of the Marquis of Azurara, in the early 18th century. It's believed that the construction of the church was a display of piety and also to serve as a social gathering place for the Azurara family. In 1755, the Azurara family requested the Holy House of Mercy of Lisbon for support for the construction of the church. Construction was completed in 1770. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Portugal.

• Igreja de Rendufe is a historical landmark, according to the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage of Portugal. • The building is a baroque style, featuring neoclassical, rococo and baroque architectural features. • Its central gold altar is surrounded by sculptures of the four evangelists, creating a stunning visual effect. • The chancel has exquisite paintings and carved wood decorations. • The two chapels feature two gold and two blue altars with stunning sculptures of Saint Bernard and Mary Magdalene.
