Brief History:

: Al Rumaylah Mosque is town mosque located in the coastal village of Dib-al-Mas or DimalMas in the southern province of Dhofar in the Sultanate of Oman. The mosque, also known as Al-Mas Mosque, dates back to the 15th century and is one of the oldest mosques in Oman. It is believed to have been originally constructed as a small mud and stone Mosque by a trader from Hadhramaut in Yemen. The current edifice was erected in the late 18th century and is noted for its unique architecture and elaborate façade. The façade is distinguished by a large stone archway and features carved wooden doors with delicate panels. The Mosque is large in size and still in use today for Eid Al-Fitr prayer. Architecture:

The Al Rumaylah Mosque was built during the Golden Age of Oman in the 14th century and is one of the oldest surviving mosques in the country. It is an example of traditional Omani architecture and is an important part of the country's cultural heritage. The mosque is made of mud-brick walls with a square prayer hall encircled by four iwans (rooms). The main iwan can be accessed through a magnificent door made of teak wood and carved with geometric patterns. Inside, the mosque is decorated with ceramic tiles and carved stucco. The central dome is also decorated with a mosaic of glass and ceramic pieces. Located on the second floor is a library of ancient Islamic texts, an administrative office, and a special room for the Imam and Bakdash. On the roof is a minaret which is used to call everyone to prayer. The Al Rumaylah Mosque was restored during the reign of the late Sultan Qaboos (who also opened a museum next door). Its facade was refurbished and new tiles, carpets, and cedar wood were added. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

The visiting hours of the Al Rumaylah Mosque in Oman are from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily. Please note that the mosque is open to both Muslims and non-Muslims for visits, and all visitors must observe Islamic rules and regulations while inside.
