The Mosque is located in the northern part of the capital city, in Al Qurm district. The mosque is a two-story structure and is known for its beautiful, intricate sandstone façade, decorated in traditional Omani style. Its original roof was destroyed during a 1990 earthquake, but it has since been reconstructed, keeping its original charm. The walls of the mosque are adorned with intricately carved marble and stone designs in warm orange, yellow, and brown tones. There is a gallery for women to observe the prayer proceedings from the back of the hall. The mosque is illuminated by a stunning octagonal chandelier with stained glass and adorned with hanging banners. The mosque’s exterior is a combination of traditional Islamic and contemporary architecture, featuring five tall minarets, a blue tile dome, and slender columns at the entrance.
