The Al Qurum South Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Oman. It is located in Matrah, in the Qurum District near Muscat. The mosque was built in 2011, replacing an old, smaller mosque. It has a large prayer Hall that can accommodate up to 2,000 people. The building itself is made up of a large central dome, two minarets, and several smaller domes and arches. The dome is 82 feet high and is decorated with custom patterns and verses from the Quran. The walls of the building are clad in traditional Omani yellow and white marble, and the interior is ornamented with exquisite Persian and Indian fabrics and designs. The mosque also features traditional Islamic calligraphy as decoration in the prayer halls.
