Brief History:
Al Batinah West North South Mosque is the largest Mosque in Oman, located in Sohar. The mosque was built in 1973 and was designed by an Omani architect. It was constructed using locally available natural materials such as gypsum and clay blocks and is surrounded by gardens and other facilities. The Mosque has two separate prayer halls, the larger for men and the smaller for women. In addition, a number of smaller prayer spaces are also located within the compound of the Mosque. The structure also includes an educational and cultural centre with a library and museum. On the outside, the Mosque is faced with a light yellow colour. The main entrance is located close to the entrance of the old city. The entire structure is decorated with Islamic architectural geometrical patterns and inscriptions. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

To reach the mosque by car, take Highway 15 east from the city centre and follow the signs to Al Richa. Getting There by Public Transportation: The mosque can be reached by public transportation from the city centre. The closest bus stop is Al Richa Bus Stop on E18, located two blocks away from the mosque. To get there from the city centre, take a bus to Al Richa from Sultan Qaboos Square Bus Station.
