Built atop a natural sandstone ridge, the Mosque transcends its elevated position and overlooks the neighboring landscapes. The building has a simple architectural layout, with three interrelated structures that line up parallel to each other. The main entrance of the mosque faces west towards the city of Ibri, which creates a direct visual connection with the outside world. Large window openings create an inviting space to the worshippers, and allow the natural light to pour into the prayer hall. The interior design of the Mosque is minimal, yet speaks of contemporary Islamic style. All spaces, including the prayer hall, showcase clean lines and unadorned surfaces in order to keep the focus on the spiritual act of praying. The mosque’s complex geometrical interplay between columns, arches, and skylights add a unique touch to the building, in which the smooth modernist forms bring a strong sense of lightness to the whole structure.
