: The Al Rawdah South North Mosque in Oman is a famous mosque located in the historic city of Sur. It was built in the late 16th century by Sultan Na'ib Sayyid in order to commemorate his victory over the Ottoman Turks in the East Coast War. The mosque is one of the oldest in the country and is part of the four Grand Mosques of Oman. It is wellknown for its intricately carved marble facades and wooden ceilings, which have been expertly crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Architecture:

The Al Rawdah Mosque is a traditional, sandstone structure and is roughly rectangular in plan.The central courtyard is surrounded by two wings which are divided in two by a central nave running east-west. The eastern wing has an Iwan-type room which is used as a prayer hall, while the western wing has an entrance hallway which leads to three smaller rooms. The building is topped with a ribbed, conical dome which is traditionally covered in a layer of gold leaf. Additionally, the bow-shaped mihrab and the three domes over the entrance and prayer hall are all gilded with gold. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

The Al Rawdah South North Mosque is open for prayers from 8:00am to 10:00pm seven days a week. Visitors are welcome to visit the mosque from 8:00am to 10:00pm except on Fridays and may enter until 4:00pm on Fridays. best mosque in the world.
