The Al Ghubrah South Central East West Mosque was established in 1976, and is the largest mosque in Oman. It is situated at the junction of the Sultan Qaboos Highway and Al Khuwair Road in Muscat, about 8km west of the capital. The mosque has five minarets, four of them built in the shape of a traditional Islamic clock face and a fifth one in the form of an arch, symbolizing the unity of Islam. The main prayer hall is 50m long, 25m wide and can accommodate 4000 people at one time. The mosque has various facilities such as the Sufi Hall, Imam House, Royal Hall and more.
