Brief History:
Al Ashkharah South Mosque is located in the Governorate of Dhofar, in the Sultanate of Oman. It is believed to be one of the oldest mosques in the region, built at the same time as the Great Mosque of Al Ashkharah. The mosque is primarily made out of stone and is believed to have been constructed around 1000 CE. The mosque is home to a stunning collection of Islamic artifacts, including prayer carpets, Korans, books and maps of the holy city of Mecca. There is also an Islamic museum on the grounds which holds many artefacts, historical records and documents from the Islamic faith. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

The Al Ashkharah South Mosque in Oman is an iconic and breathtakingly beautiful structure. Built in the traditional Omani style of architecture, the mosque looks out onto a breathtaking landscape of the Indian Ocean and sandy hills. With two main prayer halls, as well as several smaller prayer spaces, the mosque is one of a kind. The main hall of the mosque is adorned with calligraphic inscriptions and intricately carved floral designs, while the exterior is decorated with intricate jali (carved stone) designs. The mosque is also surrounded by a large courtyard area, providing a peaceful atmosphere for the pilgrims who come to pray. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
