Brief History:
is nestled in Al Jifnain North West of Muscat, Oman. It's one of the oldest traditional and modern mosques in the region.The mosque was built in 18th century during the reign of Sultan Said bin Taimur. It was originally built with a very simple structure and has over the years undergone several renovations and additions. It now features two minarets and a traditional form of ornate mihrab made of colourful tile work. It's also equipped with several modern amenities, such as an audio system to help with prayer services and air conditioning.The mosque also serves as a place for Islamic education and offers courses in Islamic jurisprudence, Islamic morality, and the Quran. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Jifnain North West Mosque in Oman is a traditional mosque built in a classic architectural style which blends modern and traditional elements. The mosque is constructed in a traditional manner with a central courtyard and four columns, the columns facing outward in the center, while four additional columns support the four corners of the mosque. The roof is made of teak wood and is held up by four gables, two of which are decorated with ceramic tiles and brass fixtures. The exterior is finished with whitewash with painted floral designs, while the interior of the mosque is decorated with ornate mosaic tiles and intricate patterns. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
