Architecture:
The Al Hail Industrial Mosque is a contemporary mosque located in Sohar, Sultanate of Oman. It was designed by Tamara Al Sada and completed in February 2014. The mosque is made of precast concrete and steel. It is a single-story structure and it features an open-air courtyard, prayer space, and a central mihrab (prayer niche). The mosque has a contemporary design, with an emphasis on natural light, ventilation, and simple yet stunning material use. The exterior walls feature a combination of glazing, aluminum panels, and perforated metal screens. The courtyard features a large shallow fountain that provides a pleasant atmosphere for worshipers. At the entrance, visitors are welcomed by a large arched portal topped by a pointed dome. Inside, the mosque is broken up into three sections – a transitional area, a prayer hall section, and a transitional area with a segmented outlet for the wudhu (ablution). Skylights around the edges of the structure bring in natural light and further enhance the sensibilities of the traditional Islamic architecture. The visiting hours of Al Hail Industrial Mosque in Oman is usually from 6:00am until 11:00pm on most days. However, during prayer times, visitors are not allowed to enter the mosque.
