St. George Orthodox Curch can trace its origin back to the early 1900s when two mission churches were founded in Louisiana, St. Ignatius (Tigerland) in 1906 and St. George (Baton Rouge) in 1907. Both churches were served by the same priest and were part of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America.
