The Al Ghubrah mosque, located in Muscat, Oman, was designed as part of a mixed-use development project. The mosque incorporates traditional Islamic design elements into a modernist architecture. The building includes a large prayer hall, a library and education center, and several smaller prayer spaces. The main prayer hall is the most prominent element of the building, featuring a vast morjid with a notable star-shaped chandelier suspended from a mezzanine and an imposing marble mihrab. The library and education center is housed in a two-story building to the east of the main prayer hall, bordered by an outdoor courtyard. The smaller prayer spaces are located both within and around the main building, and feature traditional Islamic motifs and patterns. The mosque’s exterior is characterized by a contemporary design featuring a curvilinear façade with geometric patterns. The façade is punctuated by a central minaret, as well as a series of other minarets that flank the building. The roofs of the buildings are marked by four large domes, with several smaller domes located around the perimeter of the main building.
