The Al Qabil South Mosque is an example of traditional Omani-influenced Islamic architecture. The mosque is centered around a large inner courtyard that is surrounded by three arcades. The most striking feature of this mosque is its unique double-story mihrab. This two-story mihrab displays intricate geometric designs and is typical of Omani mosques. The arcades feature unique columns made of local gypsum and decorated with carved geometric designs. Directly adjacent to the prayer hall is a minaret, which is a square tower that is traditionally used for summoning Muslims to prayer. The mosque also features two domes — one over the prayer hall and another at the entrance to the mosque. The domes, along with the intricate columns and minaret, contribute to a visually stunning display of traditional Omani Islamic architecture.
