Brief History:
Al Buraymi South Mosque is an important historical site for the city of Al Buraymi. It was constructed in the year 577 AH by the Governor of Oman, Al Burtoluzi. Since then, it has been a place of worship for the locals, and it is a well-known landmark of Al Buraymi. The mosque houses a prayer hall with a capacity of about 500 people. It has beautiful and intricate decorative work on its walls and it is considered to be a symbol of piety among the local communities. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Buraymi South Mosque in Oman is a traditional Islamic mosque that follows the typical design elements of mosques in the country. It features an enclosed square prayer hall with four iwans, situated at the north, east, south and west sides of the square. The four iwans are used to house separate sections of the mosque and are often used for prayer, teaching and as a place for the imam to deliver sermons. The dome of the mosque is also made of traditional materials such as gold-painted Arab tiles and is set upon tall columns. The structure of the mosque is also built in a traditional style with its ornate façade and the incorporation of calligraphy and sculptures on its walls. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

The mosque is easily accessible through the Al Batinah Expressway, and also the main highway connecting Al Buraymi to Muscat.
