Brief History:
is a relatively new mosque located in the east southcentral part of the country. It was built in 1982 and is now the largest mosque in the area. The mosque is a popular spot for prayer, as well as for lectures and spiritual retreats. Additionally, the mosque features a large garden and reflection area where visitors can take in the tranquility and beauty of the area. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Awabi East South Central Mosque in Oman is a modern mosque that features an arched façade with a rounded dome and is surrounded by two smaller semi-domes. The building is spread out over five stories, and the mosque itself is located on the third floor. The design includes a large shaded courtyard that serves as the main entrance, and a domed prayer hall with a center bay and large central dome, along with several smaller prayer halls. The entrance of the building is marked by two minarets and features intricate stone work and Islamic motifs. The building also features a complex system of air conditioning, which is designed to ensure that worshippers stay comfortable during their prayers. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
