Brief History:
Al Aqur Mosque is located in Muscat, Oman and is one of the oldest and most important mosques in the country. It dates from the time of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and has been a destination for Muslim pilgrims for centuries. Al Aqur Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the area, covering over 3,200 square meters. It is known for its intricate designs, beautiful stained-glass windows, and ornate golden dome. The mosque has a rich history, having previously been a temple for the sun god Amon-Ra and a royal palace before it became a place of worship. It currently serves as a central site for pilgrims during the Hajj and Umrah and is open to the public for daily prayers. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Aqur Mosque in Oman is designed in the traditional Omani architectural style. The main feature of the building is its 8-dome design, which is typical of the region. The four minarets, or towers, are also a standout feature of the mosque. At the center of the mosque is an open courtyard with a fountain in the center. The building is made of beige sandstone and is mainly decorated with intricate engravings and geometric designs. The interior is even more ornate, with intricate geometric and floral designs on the walls and ceilings. To complete the mosque, there is a vast prayer hall with a large circular carpet for prayer. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The visiting hours of the Al Aqur Mosque in Oman are 9am to 12 noon and 4:30pm to 7pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the visiting hours are from 9am to 12 noon. best mosque in the world.
