Brief History:
Al Aqur West Central Mosque is a historic mosque located in the Wilayat of Muttrah, Oman. The mosque is the oldest standing mosque in Muttrah, and one of the oldest in the country. It is believed to have been built in the late 17th century by Sultan bin Saif Al Ya’ruba, ruler of Muscat. The mosque features a unique architectural style that combines elements of both the traditional Arabian and colonial Portuguese styles. It has four symmetrical minarets, and its prayer hall is decorated with ornate stucco carvings. The roof of the mosque is decorated with intricate geometric patterns and motifs in vibrant colors. The mosque has been renovated several times over the centuries and is one of the most beautiful and beloved landmarks in Muttrah. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

The Al Aqur West Central Mosque is a modern Islamic-style mosque located in Oman. The mosque is composed of a large central prayer hall, two minarets flanking the entrance, four corner towers, and a pair of reflective pools that encircle the building. The exterior of the mosque is largely clad in white marble, while its interior is dominated by intricate geometric patterns inspired by traditional Islamic design. The mosque is also adorned with a series of stained-glass windows depicting scenes from the Qur'an, as well as granite and marble panels that house verses from the Islamic holy book. The mosque provides many prayer services and educational programs about Islam, and is a popular site for gatherings and worship for Muslims around the region.
