: The Sidi Bouzekri Mosque is a sacred site, located in the city of Meknes in Morocco. The mosque was originally built in 1559 by the Almohad Sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib, and underwent several later renovations. In addition to its religious significance, the mosque is renowned for its beautiful zellij tilework, and exquisite stucco and plasterwork. The mosque is a popular tourist destination, as well as a center for locals to worship. The mosque has even been called a “national treasure” by some, due to its unique blend of religious and cultural significance. It is one of the most famous mosque in Morocco which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Sidi Bouzekri Mosque is located in the imperial city of Meknes in Morocco. It is a traditional example of Moroccan Islamic architecture, built in the late 16th century. The mosque consists of a central prayer hall, flanked by two aisles with a total of nine bays and a central dome, a minbar, a mihrab, and a gate in the middle of the eastern wall. The prayer hall is rectangular and is covered with a barrel vault with nine semi-domed bays. The walls are made of plaster and stucco with ornamental vegetal motifs. The mosque has a tall, square minaret and a gilded copper crescent at its summit. The grounds of the mosque are surrounded by a wall and feature a large fountain in the courtyard. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Sidi Bouzekri Mosque is located in the old town of Meknes, Morocco. The mosque can easily be reached by car or taxi. It is located approximately 5 km, or a 10-minute drive, from the centre of Meknes. By Car: The fastest route to the mosque is by car. There are multiple routes that can be taken, and most of them take under 10 minutes from Meknes' centre.
