: Al-Andalus Mosque, known as The Great Mosque of Tangier, is one of the most important mosques in Morocco and the oldest in the city of Tangier. It was constructed in seven years (765CE-772CE), under the orders of the Umayyad Caliph, Abdel-Rahman al-Dahmani. The prayer hall is located on the top floor and the open courtyard encircles the lower floor. The mosque is surrounded by several rooms, which were used as living quarters for imams (clerics) and their families, and a mezzanine for cooks and servants. The Al-Andalus Mosque is an Islamic mosque located in the historic centre of Tangier, Morocco. It has a rectangular floor plan and is built in the traditional Moroccan style of architecture. The walls are made of adobe brick and the roof is composed of multiple domes, which are covered in green and yellow tiles. The minarets are decorated with colorful motifs. Inside the mosque, there are two arcades of pointed arches framing three aisles running the length of the building. The interior is ornate, with colorful mosaics and marble pillars. The mosque also features a marble mihrab, indicating the direction of prayer, and two wooden minbars, or elevated pulpits. Visiting Hours:

The Al-Andalus Mosque in Tangier, Morocco is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 8am to 8pm. Sunday the mosque is closed to visitors.
