History:

This church has a long and fascinating history. It was built by the Order of St John, the former rulers of Malta, who used it as their own chapel. The church was originally dedicated to St Marija. During the reign of Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena (1722-36) the church was reconsecrated in 1738 and it was then dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health, then known as St Venera.
