Knisja tal-Vittorja In Malta: History,Facts, & Services

Knisja tal-Vittorja is a historic Catholic parish church located in the heart of Valletta, Malta. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Victory, which is why it is known in English as the Church of Victory. The original church was built in the 16th century and rebuilt in the early 17th century, following a plan by Maltese architect Girolamo Cassar. Its interior is decorated with many works of art, including a painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a sculpture of St. Paul and the monumental flagellation altar-piece painted by Mattia Preti. The church was extensively renovated in the late 19th century, giving it its present Baroque appearance. The church is open to visitors during the day to see its interior, which serves as a touristic attraction in Valletta. The church also hosts a variety of religious services and masses.
