Kappella Ta Bir Miftuħ is an old high altar church located in the small village of Lija in Malta. The church was built during the 17th-18th centuries and is dedicated to the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is believed to have been built on the site of a 12th century chapel, hence its name. The interior of the church is decorated with various Baroque and Rococo elements, including impressive painted wooden ceilings and a beautiful main altar. The church also houses several relics, including an 18th century organ and a bell from the late 18th century. It is one of the best churches in Malta which you must visit.

Kappella Ta Bir Miftuħ was renowned for its religious practices, often hosting important events attended by prominent people of the time. Celebrations and festivities also took place in the church and its surroundings, as one of the previous parish priests, Don Giovanni Pace, was instrumental in popularising the feast of the Assumption in the area. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Malta.
