The Church of Our Lady of Pilar (Tal-Pilar), also known as the Shrine of Our Lady of Pilar and the Tal-Pilar Sanctuary, is a Roman Catholic church located in Rabat, Malta. This popular shrine is dedicated to Our Lady of Pilar, the patron saint of Rabat and a popular devotional destination for pilgrims. The present-day structure dates back to the 18th century and has undergone numerous renovations and modifications over the years. It is one of the biggest churches in Malta and is listed as a Grade 1 national monument of the country.

History:
The church was first constructed in the 1570s in order to house a venerated image of Our Lady of Pilar, which was allegedly brought to Malta in the same year by Spanish sailors seeking refuge in the port of Marsaxlokk. This image was kept in one of the old chapels in the area until it was eventually moved to the newly built church in 1691 by Antonio Anastasi of the Holy Trinity. The church was further enlarged in 1716 and a dome was added in the early 19th century. Further modifications were made over the years, including the addition of a new altar and a third bell tower in 1856. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Malta.
