History:

The church was originally built in 1718 as a chapel of ease dedicated to Our Lady of the Annunciation. In 1845, the chapel was granted the title of church, and in 1847, it was named to honor Pope Gregory XIII, who had chosen the village of Żejtun as the setting for his mass in 1575. Over the course of its history, the church has undergone several renovations and expansions, including the restoration of its façade in 1991, but it still retains many of its original characteristics. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Malta.
