Ashikagaseisho Baptist Church was founded by a group of missionaries from Great Britain and America. Led by Rev. John R. Whiting and Dr. Y. Watanabe, the group established its first church in 1886 in Ashiya, Japan. This began a long history of growth and expansion, leading to the establishment of 14 churches located in the country today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Japan.
