The Lititz Moravian Church was founded in 1746 by the Moravian leaders Count Zinzendorf and Bishop Edwards. Following a great revival in the town of Lititz in the 1740s, Christian congregations of the United Brethren and local German settlers petitioned Count Zinzendorf and Bishop Edwards to organize a domestic mission. The Lititz congregation was the first of more than 50 such missions established by the Moravian Church in North America. The first building was constructed in 1746 and the congregation held services in both German and English. In 1807, the present building, the oldest house of worship in Lancaster County, was built.
