Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church was founded on August 28, 1927. It was established by a group of five devoted Catholics who wanted to construct a larger parish to serve the large Catholic population in Metairie. The structure was designed by St. Louis architects and construction began in 1930. The completed building was dedicated on December 17, 1932. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jamaica.
